They are young, talented, British and from Africa: here is a non-exhaustive list of British artists who offer hip-hop music “made in United Kingdom” !

Stormzy – UK/Ghana (24 yo)

Besides being the oldest, Stormzy is also the most famous rapper from this list. He will turn 25 next July and can boast about having won 12 rewards on 17 nominations ! Double winner of the Awards 2018 (British Male Solo Artist and Mastercard British Album of the Year), Stormzy made an impression last year when he won the “Best International Act: Europe” during the BET Awards. His energy and his technique led him to represent the British hip-hop on the global stage, behind Tinie Timpah, and his single “Big For Your Boots”, from his first album Gang Signs & Prayer, perfectly illustrates it.

MoStack – UK/Somalia ? (23 yo)

MoStack is the most mysterious artist from this list. Despite his success, he does not show much nor accept much interviews. Finding his origins is an ordeal we could not overcome. This tweet is the only clue, but Mo leaves a doubt…

A true music lover hides behind his sunglasses and his different hats: music means everything to him. This passion is felt in his songs and music videos. High Street Kid, his first album introduced by the song “Screw & Brew” (ft Mist), will definitely not be his last project !

Kojo Funds – UK/Ghana/Dominican Republic (22 yo)

Did his song “Dun Talkin” with Abra Cadabra inspire “Fall”, hit of the year 2017 by Davido ? In any event, Kojo Funds may be the most complete musician from this list – artistically speaking. His Ghanaian and Dominican origins make him a hybrid artist who perfectly brings together Afro, Dancehall and R&B. “Check”, his last song and hit, in collaboration with Raye, definitely highlights it.

J Hus – UK/Gambia/Ghana (22 yo)

His rise to stardom began in 2016, thanks to his song “Friendly” and he became famous very quickly. His second single “ Did You See ”, released last year, was a huge success with almost 50 million views on YouTube today. It actually is the main song of his first album Common Sense, ranked among the best album of the years 2017 by the UK charts. The contrast between those two songs (rap for the first one, R&B for the second) sums up the artist’s talent. More recently, he released “Bouff Daddy” !

Yxng Bane – UK/Democratic Republic of Congo (21 yo)

He’s the only British artist coming from a French-speaking country, but it does not prevent Yxng Bane from putting forward countries such as Nigeria, like he did with the music video “Corner”, in collaboration with Maleek Berry. He explains that he does not belong to any specific musical style and he even remixed “Shape of You”, Ed Sheeran’s pop success. Yxng Bane is still influenced by the R&B style, as showed with the single “Rihanna”, which brought the artist to another level !

Abra Cadabra – UK/Ghana (20 yo)

Abra Cabadra made a sensational entrance thanks to his remix of “Robbery”, in collaboration with the group Krept & Konan. This song made him win the award of the best song during the MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin), ceremony rewarding the best of “Black music” in the UK. Abra has an incredible self-confidence in spite of his young age, no matter the register. Ultra-aggressive in “Art of War” , but incredibly soft in “Envy Us” with Stefflon Don, Abra Cadabra definitely is versatile. By the way, this song is one of our crushes and belongs to our summer hit selection of the year 2017.

Not3s – UK/Ghana – (20 yo)

Only 13 days separate Abra Cadabra, born on April 4th, 1998, and Not3s, born on April 17th, 1998! The youngest artist from this list has not waited much before releasing his first album Take Not3s in 2017. A successful musical project in which we can find the hits who made him famous such as “ Addison Lee “ and “ Aladdin “, the prestigious collaboration with Tinie Tempah and Shakka “ No Drama ”, and some of our personal crushes like “ Notice “ or “ My Lover “ – a wonderful song to be played at every wedding ceremony !
